Crazy Virginia Weather!

Normally  I would complain about the inconsistent weather we tend to have here in VA, but not this morning. Sunday night we got snow, I love snow, but here it doesn't happen often. We got more than our annual/bi annual dusting, we had about 5-6 inches in our yard Monday morning. My 4 yr old loved it and played in the melting snow for an hour or so. My 21 month old twins however didn't have snow gear and had a short lived 15 minute trip out to see the snow, once their hands where cold they where done.

Now it is Wednesday morning and all the snow is gone, actually 95% of it was gone by Monday. I got the kids up at the usual 6:45 so they can be ready for the bus when it gets here at 7:30, 7:35 or rather when it decided to show up. First I discover that Mason, the 4yr old, had gotten his good school shoes wet, so we had to rush around to find a decent pair of play shoes for him to wear. It was about 7:30 and it turns out that he not only misplaced his good winter coat, but also his play winter coat. So in my mad panic not to be the mom of the year that sent her kid to school with no coat I miraculously found his blue jean jacket. I stuffed him in the jacket and kissed him as the bus is coming down the road, all the while frantically signing one last paper my daughter forgot to have my sign the night before. And so my morning begins.

It just so happens that on this lost coat Wednesday morning I notice that at 7:30 in the morning just 2 days after the masses of snow fall that is already 50 degrees, bright sunny and warming up pretty fast. So I no longer feel like a horrible mother for not knowing where my sons winter coats. Standing on the porch I take in a deep breath rollicking in the moment, before the twins wake and scream for my attention, and thank Virginia for having weather that can not make up its mind.
